Argus Monitor runs in the background to track hard-disk temperature and critical S.M.A.R.T. health attributes, alerting users to values that reach vendor-defined thresholds. It stores drive status, including for disks connected only occasionally. Graphical views show drive, GPU and per-core CPU temperatures, as well as CPU core frequency for checking power management.

Argus Monitor is a Windows hardware monitoring utility for users who want to keep track of drive health and system temperatures. It runs in the background, checking hard disks and reporting changes in critical S.M.A.R.T. attributes, which can indicate worsening drive condition. By retaining S.M.A.R.T. status for each drive, including disks connected only occasionally, it can preserve a record of health changes even when a drive has been attached to another computer.

For storage monitoring, Argus Monitor checks drive temperature alongside S.M.A.R.T. health data. It can issue a warning when an attribute reaches a vendor-defined threshold or when monitored values suggest an increased risk of failure. These alerts give users an opportunity to back up important files before a failing disk becomes inaccessible. Temperature graphs make it easier to spot sustained heat or changes over time, rather than relying on a single reading.

The program also monitors processor and graphics hardware. It displays CPU temperature separately for each core, along with core frequency, and shows GPU temperature in a graphical view. These readings help users watch thermal behavior during everyday work or demanding tasks, and check whether processor power management is changing clock speed as expected. The background operation keeps the monitoring available without requiring constant interaction.

Argus Monitor is useful for home and work PCs where early notice of drive-health changes matters, as well as for users checking cooling and power-management behavior. Its stored drive records are particularly relevant for removable or intermittently connected disks, while temperature and frequency displays help with routine hardware checks. Monitoring provides warning information, but it does not replace regular backups or guarantee that a drive failure can be predicted.

Argus Monitor is trialware and supports Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11, with 32-bit and 64-bit support stated for Windows 7, 8 and 10. It is designed to run as a background task and reads hardware health and temperature information for display and alerts.
