VariCad 2026 1.00
released Nov 28, 2025 (New Release)
Among new features, there is mainly a capability to load files from ACIS native formats and STL files. There are also some changes in 3D modeling, working with solid attributes (for Viewer version) and exports into STL. Loading and viewing data from STL and ACIS is obviously available for both full version and a Viewer. Changes made for this version allows you to load and work with objects containing a large amount of patches (set of single isolated triangles), like data prepared into STEP from various 3D scanners. Files from STL can be loaded and used as solids. For large STL data there may be some limits, if you want to use them as regular 3D objects.
For export into STL, you can set higher density and from commands “cfg” or “teststl”, you can easily zoom, rotate or pan the view.

VariCad 2025 3.01
released Jul 31, 2025 (New Release)
The new version contains changes in 3D modeling (outlines of end planes of lofted solids, section definitions, working with solid tree structures), additional options in 2D dimensioning (arrows with texts, ANSI thread dimensions), interface (temporary toolbars are exactly located, view perpendicularly to a selected plane, additional set of icons – 32x32), and solved limits for extremely large files.
Also, the Viewer contains significant changes – a possibility to manage sections as a full version (define, edit or delete sections), in 2D you can change line style or width (in addition to existing color changes) and generally, you can right-click an object and select available functions, or right-click an empty location and also select available functions.

VariCad 2025 1.06
released Mar 4, 2025 (New Release)
This new version contains an improvement in 3D modeling kernel, changes in creation of helical surfaces, support of real 3D threads, updates in smart dimensioning and in creation of 2D from 3D.
Solids created as helices (by rotation and simultaneous extrusion) are defined by a contour in a sketching plane. The new version has a more intuitive approach to helix definition, to sketching of contours creating a helix. Similarly, as in case of extrusion, you can change helix height and/or number of coils also by cursor movement.
Using features creating threaded cylinders, threaded holes or cutting threads on existing cylindrical surfaces, you can select a new option – to create a real 3D thread. The thread profile complies exactly to ISO metric threads, or to ANSI threads in case of working in inches. The threaded surface is created schematically by default. You can change the existing schematic thread to real 3D thread and vice versa, or to create a 3D thread immediately. Real 3D threads are suitable for 3D printing of mechanical parts.
Another improvement is in the creation of 2D from 3D views. If you have some 3D objects displayed in original locations and some are copied into an exploded view, 2D is now created completely in one step, including both standard and exploded view.
Using 2D smart dimensioning, cylindrical surfaces are now recognized always exactly.

VariCad 2024 2.03
released Sep 12, 2024 (New Release)
This new version contains multiple new options of 3D data output, and some optimization within a VariCAD core. The new options of output contain 3D PDF, Collada, ACIS data and PRC data. 3D PDF format allows you to view exported 3D models on multiple platforms, including Android. You can zoom, pan and rotate the view and perform measurement of 3D dimensions.
Collada (Collaborative Design Activity) is a format mainly used in computer graphics. It is managed by Khronos Group and is adopted by ISO.
ACIS data can be stored in format *.SAT (text) or *.SAB (binary). Format data up to version 700 are compatible with any software using ACIS. Higher versions – since 20800 are modified by Autodesk into a different representation. VariCAD output is compatible with Autodesk versions, so we recommend using versions up to 700 if you want to export data into different software than Autodesk products.
3D PRC (Product Representation Compact) is used for embedding of 3D data into PDF or for store, loading and displaying of 3D.
VariCAD allows vast modifications of any supported output formats. These settings are available from the “cfg” command, or directly within a file-dialog, if you select a command “Save As”.
