TrueSpace 7.61 review by An ugly sense of entitlement (Dec 5, 2011)
Hi! I used an older version of TS a few years back and now I'm using the latest version. I'm pleased with it; it suits my needs. I'm using it because ity strikes me as easier to use than Blender (which I also tried in the latest 2011 version). I also tried 3D Max Studio but the software cost too much and I needed longer than 30 days of trial to really see what the software was capable of. Studio Max is roughly $3,500, so I can't get that for my commercial needs, even though it is good. I forgot to say that I'm just doing game character modeling with these programs, so I ended up back with Truespace 7.61. I disagree with these other responders who gave it 2 stars for the simple fact that TS was handed to them for FREE. Whether it works for them or not, they didn't pay a penny for the software. Drop the sense of entitlement and go purchase 3D Max for $3,000 if you want something better. You're not entitled to a top notch program for free, it's a gift that doesn't have to be offered at all. Same goes for Blender or any other FREE software. Thank you.

Truespace was taken over by Microsoft... now it's like everything else Steve Balmer has "enhanced"... (Office 2007, Win7) the interface is rubbish and there is no relevent Help or Manual. Balmer seems intent on Destroying Microsoft by creating stupid and inflexible user interfaces that nobody asked for... I hope they get rid of him soon before the company loses more customers.

TrueSpace is a great program.. Its icon based interface takes a little getting used to... There is a free .obj plugin that come with the instalation.. you just have to install it.. via the plugin icon.. There is certainly no free program that comes close to TrueSpace as far as modeling rendering or animation and the real time directX render in workspace is something else.. If you use the program through the completion of one project.. You wont want to use anything else..

OMG, wth is this. No wonder TrueSpace is free. The UI is a cobbled together incoherent mish-mash of icons and non-standard file sytems. No thanks. Take it back.

I just tried truspace 7.61 but could not find any function to import obj files or export obj files for blend. Even when I click the help->manual there is not any manual available for explaination how to export obj file. There are many 3D softwares could directly export xaml file format for example solidworks, zam3d,and so on. In my point of view truspace is owned by microsoft it should support blend closely.
