I use this all the time to create images, from Ghost, which is a custom install. It does work on Win 7 and Win 8, BUT you have to put the hard drive to the IDE mode or Legacy O.S. (whatever your BIOS calls it). It will not work with AHCI drives. UBCD4Win will boot on an AHCI drive, but it will not see the drive. Go into BIOS, make it IDE and UBCD4Win does see the drive. Of course, the OS no longer works when you switch between IDE and ACHI.

Does any one know where I can view instructions for using the program for Windows 7 64 bit with a OS DVD? I see that users get this to work with Windows 7 but have yet to see instructions for doing so. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

I use it for Win7 all the time, there is no need to boot of it, just insert the Cd and you can run the utilities. You can boot as well and see Win7 partitions and back them up, Truecrypt allows you to look at Win7 Truecrypt encrypted drives and copy data off a failed drive. Good utility.

Works with Vista and 7 (32 bit) - haven't had occasion to try it with 64-bit. The major difference is that "out of the box" UBCD doesn't automatically find Vista / 7 hives... however, after playing around with it and "instructing" it to use the WindowsSystem32 folder it worked fine - even allowing me to get beyond the dreaded "no administrator account" USER password.... Thanks to the fantastic talent behind this project we (all) are able to eek out a small but continuing living repairing goobered-up Windows-based PC's. ....... this verison works abosolutly fine on any Win7 or Vista machine. As a IT Tech I have tested it on a few hundred machines and its the best out there.......

Magic CD?
For XP users, yes. But UBCD4WIN on first install will launch PE Builder which is ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE under Vista/7.
It cannot find your Windows 7 installation files because they're of another structure in V/7. This CD is great for WinXP users, but for Vista/7 users (I have 7) it's NOT.
