Tribler is a social community that facilitates filesharing through a peer-to-peer (p2p) network. A p2p network is different from a centralised service, where every user downloads his files from one central server. With p2p, the user/downloader is also an uploader to another user. When the Tribler application program is started it will automatically start searching other users that have Tribler running on their computer. After starting a successful connection, Tribler begins exchanging data.

New Release
Our 8.4.1 release did not actually fix the critical "random files on your disk" issue. This had us demote the release to a "pre-release". In this release, our feature seems to - finally - be working as intended again. We also fixed an issue with the Windows installer not being able to use the default state directory.
After that bit of chaos, we now have v8.4.2 as the first "actually stable" 8.4 release.
